Great frame, great service!

Purchased the copper brown 4130 frame and fork. Had to wait about a month to receive my frame. Not a big deal, that’s just the way it is right now. When I unpacked it there was a small amount of paint rubbed down on the drive side chainstay near the BB. Also the fork was attached to the frame and during shipping the steerer tube made a small dent in the top tube. I reached out to State and they gave me a discount, which was great. Another issue was the headset included was missing cups. Reached out to Chris and he had them sent out in less than a week.

The frame itself is awesome. For those curious of exact weight, I bought the 55 cm frame, which is 2705 g, and the fork 1370 g (including axels).

My desire was to have a solid do it all drop bar, able to ride any terrain and road without concern. That was the appeal to this frame. I like how it has a classic steel look with modern design. The sloping top tube and long oversized head tube look great, and the multitude of mounting points on the frame and fork are key for me.

I built up a pair of 105s laced to 700 WTB i23st running 42 mm tires. Currently running 1x9 but plan to go either 2x9 or 1x10

So far I have only been out for a 15 mile mixed road ride. The ride quality is smooth as expected from steel. I’m not sure what my complete build weighs in at, but I think around 24-25 lbs. Still, the bike feels quick and zippy.
The position is comfortable, not aggressive and stretched out. I have a 65 mm stem, but I like mine shorter. I wanted this bike to have a more upright relaxed fit.

Frame quality seems good, paint is on the thin side, I imagine I’ll be doing many touch ups over the years. As long as the frame doesn’t have any catastrophic issues like weld failure, I plan to ride this for many years to come. Eventually I want to build a second 27.5 wheel set for more secure off road riding

If you’re looking for a budget steel frame set to build up, I highly recommend!

The quality was good. I love the paint job. Just 1 minor thing that need to improve which is the packaging. Mine got 2 dent cause you guys attached the fork together with the frame. So i think maybe it happens in transit. Other then that i like the Frameset!!!

Great value!

Bought this frame set for a gravel bike build. It was my first attempt at building a bike. The installed cable guides, preinstalled star nut in the steer tube, and expanding crown race made the build relatively low stress, even for a first time builder. My build comes in at 24lbs with Shimano 2x10 GRX and DT Swiss wheels. I rode a friend's $$$ name brand gravel bike for a few hundred miles before pulling the trigger on this purchase -- this frame with a nice drivetrain and wheelset rides just as comfortable and climbs the same climbs.

One note -- I had the issue mentioned by others that the frame comes scratched from iffy packing. The fork and other items in the box jostle around and leave scratches on the frame. Not a huge issue since the frame gets dinged up from rocks and gravel when you ride, but still, I wish it didn't come scratched up. My deraileur hanger also came damaged, I think from getting bumped by the loose items on the box during shipping. State customer service quickly replaced it, however. I hope they improve the way these are packed for shipping, but not if it makes it more expensive. Can't beat the price!

Allroad frame set

Overall very happy with this purchase. It is a true value. Lots of extras... Headset, axles, cable holders, seatpost clamp, every threaded hole has a bolt in it. Packaging is good and box not damaged but paint is scuffed down to metal on the top of right chain stay. Frame appears to be 2x comparable [my preference]... There is a 3rd cable routing & a cable housing stop brazed onto down tube. Bottom bracket shell has a threaded hole on bottom of it. No plastic guide. State doesn't have it because they only make bike in a 1x drivetrain.

Great bike!

Parts-bin build for my son’s gravel bike. But I’ve been stealing it for rides the past week, and have been surprised by how fast it is! It’s a few pounds heavier than my carbon fiber salsa warbird, but I really can’t notice that much- it not quite “snappy”, but definitely not “sluggish”. And very comfortable. All in all a great frame for the price!

Great frame set, amazing paint

This frame set is very well made, high quality and pretty light at the cost. I like all the mounting options and clearance this gets you. Looking forward to finishing my build. Steel is real!

Finally!

I finally received my 4130 All Road frame set after what seemed like forever (no worries, I understand why) and I’m ready to start my build. Bike arrived undamaged and looks fantastic! Love the copper brown color. Customer service was solid. You guys are the best. Stay tuned for pics!

I was just looking for a cheap frame

As the tittle says, I was really just looking to do some riding with friends of mine that have gravel bikes but I really found something I love. Got just the frame and built this bike with my own components for the most part. Very comfortable geometry great price and came with a free frame bag.its just been about 2 weeks and already got around 100 miles on it. My only complaint, and its quite minimal, I wish they’d make those things to run the cables under out of aluminum or something a bit more sturdy, they feel too flimsy.

Great Frame, Great Vale.

My old bike was hit by a car. The frame was destroyed, but the components were still good. I had started looking for a good steel frame to build up using the components from the old bike and was leaning towards a Surly, but a friend of mine told me about State. When I checked out the State website, the prices on the frames were so good I took the plunge.

I'm glad I did.

I ride a mix of paved roads, gravel roads and some off-road dirt paths. 500 miles in and this bike has been great. It has handled all the terrain I ride on with ease and comfort. I'm looking forward to putting many more miles on it.

The value State offers for this frame just can't be beat.
