First Look: The New & Improved 6061 Black Label Series

We've been working hard here at State Bicycle Co., behind the scenes, to constantly deliver better bikes and better value. We're excited to unveil the newest updates on one of our most popular lines - The 6061 Black Label Series.

Let's take a closer look, and see what's new and improved. 

The Frame

Starting with the frame, the first major change is to the headtube. V2 of the Black Label now features a tapered 1-1/8" to 1-1/2" headtube for added stiffness and responsiveness. We've paired that with a newly designed full-carbon fork from Essor. Taking into account customer feedback, a small, but often requested feature, has been added to V2 - bottle cage mounts.  This is a feature rarely seen on track bikes, however, as more and more of our customers are taking these for longer rides on the roads, we felt this was a MUST.

The Components

From top-to-bottom, the 6061 Black Label V2 has been reimagined with a complete component overhaul. Starting with a fully CND'd 48t Track Crank and Chain Ring, with a versatile 144BCD (previously a 130bcd crank), allowing users to mix and match their crank with the top aftermarket chain-rings on the market. 

Handlebar choice is something new to the 6061 Black Label Series V2 now as well. Riders can choose from an over-sized compact drop bar or opt for a wide mountain-style riser bar with Van's grips. 

The wheels have also been given a lift, as the V2 features, a lighter 30mm mid-profile wheel with sealed hubs. In all, the completes are 1.5 lbs lighter than the previous generation.

 Build or Buy - More Bang, Less Buck

The NEW 6061 Black Label V2 are available now in 4 distinct colorways (Matte Black, Raw, Army Green, and Purple) as framesets or complete bikes. MSRP on the framesets has moved from $319 (first generation) to $299 on V2 and completes are priced at $629 (down from $759 first generation). We know our riders will find this bike to be a great value.
