Phoenix To Tucson Ride Guide
Hello Riders,
Thanks for signing up for Explore Your State Vol 6 - Phoenix to Tucson. Below we will provide some information that should ensure your day on the bike goes as smoothly and as enjoyable as possible.

THE RULES:
Phoenix to Tucson is not a race. This is an unsanctioned group ride. You must obey all traffic laws at all times as the roads will not be closed. Riders ride at their own risk. Please make sure your equipment is compliant with all safety and legal requirements.
We ask that you be courteous at all times, please do not litter.
Lastly, there will be a “regroup” spot as we head south before we hit the 87. We ask that ALL riders stay together prior to the 87.
WHAT TO EXPECT / TIPS FOR A GOOD DAY:
Please arrive at 6:00am for check-in at State Bicycle HQ - 2152 E Cedar St. Tempe, AZ 85281. DO NOT PARK INSIDE THE GATE, please park along Cedar St. We will depart no later than 6:30am. If you miss check in, there is no guarantee that your bus spot will be held.
There will be 3 support drivers for that day: one at the head of the group, one in the middle, and one “sweeper” in the back. Drivers will have basic supplies, tools, tubes, and most importantly food / snacks / hydration.
That said, there may be times where you are out of range from one of the cars. We ask that all riders come prepared with their flat-kits, tools, and some extra food/drinks that they can carry on themselves incase there is a small-period where a car is unavailable.
We have 4 planned stops:
- 1st SUPPORT STOP BASHAS Riggs & Alma School Rd. (this is the regroup spot / bathroom - will be short) - approximately at mile 17.
- 2nd SUPPORT STOP Walmart 1695 N Arizona, Coolidge, AZ - approximately at mile 42.
- 3rd SUPPORT STOP “Tom Mix Monument” (HWY 79) - approximately at mile 76.
- 4th SUPPORT STOP Circle K – 16054 N. Oracle, Tucson, AZ - approximately at mile 97
Please have credit card / cash / id on you in case you plan on buying food / drinks and any of these stops.
We will be providing Water, Hydration Mix, Bananas, and cycling food like Cliff Bars and GU.
Please feel free to bring a bag with a change of clothes, we will take it to the end for you. The bags will be in the 1st support car, so don’t plan on having access to it until the end.
THE END:
Our end spot is at Mercado San Agustin (100 South Avenida del Convento) - https://mercadodistrict.com/mercado/
They will have water set up and happy hour specials for all riders.
The bus will depart at 5:00 PM SHARP! It is your responsibility to make sure you’re at the bus / vans at that time.
Bicycles will be stored underneath the bus and in a U-Haul van and you will be able to claim your bicycle at State Headquarters - 2152 E Cedar St. Tempe, AZ 85281
Only riders who have a “BUS / FULL RIDE TICKET (BUS)” or “WAITLIST TICKET (VAN)” will receive return transportation- IF YOU SIGNED UP FOR THE ‘RIDE ONLY” YOU WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO THE BUS, YOU MUST FIND YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION BACK.
Anything that is left behind in a support car or the bus will be held and can be picked up at State HQ the following week.
