Carbon Monster Gravel Fork

Just finished first ride with the fork…sharper handling due to the lighter (!) weight of the carbon fork vs. the stock aluminum fork, which until it was off the bike and in my hands I didn’t realize just how heavy it was. Plus it looks the business. So, performance upgrade plus good looks equals win! Fitment on my Poseidon Redwood was perfect. Highly recommend the upgrade to a carbon fork. And State Bicycle Co. makes an excellent carbon gravel fork.

Awesome update to the 4130 All-Road

This fork is a solid upgrade for the 4130 All-Road. Very good quality fork and components, install was a breeze. I've got roughly 100+ miles on the fork so far, the front end feels great, and the weight reduction by installing this fork is worth the price. I can honestly say that adding this fork takes the 4130 All-Road to where it should have been from the get go. My only small gripe is how many threads are exposed from the front thru-axle on the right side of the fork when you install the wheel. I ended up finding a rubber grommet at the hardware store to cover the exposed threads.

STOKED!

I purchased this fork as an upgrade for my Surly Midnight Special and I couldn't be happier. I was pleasantly surprised to find that is came with a Wolf Tooth lower headset assembly. I have found that the fork provides a plush yet responsive ride and for the price, you can't beat it.

Excellent addition to the kit.

I recently installed this fork on a new 4130 All Road build. This past weekend was its first test ride. I rode a variety of surfaces paired with 27.5x2.1 Teravail Sparwood tires including smooth and broken pavement, dirt and gravel over about 12 miles.

This is the second bike where I swapped a steel fork for carbon and I forgot how much of a weight difference there is when holding both of them in my hands. The ride quality was excellent. I have test fist my bikepacking set up on the bosses and I believe their vertical placement on the fork are spot on.

After reading some of the previous reviews regarding the stock thru axle not fitting. When my fork arrived in the mail it came with the appropriate thru axle. If you are installing this on a 4130 All Road be sure to purchase the Compression plug and lower headset. It is not a straight swap with the stock steel fork. In addition the steer tube, the part that your stem/handlebars attaches to, is not cut. If you are unfamiliar with this I recommend getting assistance from a shop. They'll have the tools and knowledge to get you fitted and set up.

Nice, affordable carbon

This is a great carbon fork for the price. Immediately set up my 4130 All Road with this and it's been great! If you've never installed a carbon fork before, you should 100% bring it to a bike shop to install it for you. One small gripe is that the thru-axle that comes with the All Road threads in beyond the fork by about 1 or 2 cm - just doesn't look very clean.

Amazing Upgrade

Amazing upgrade to my 4130 All Road. The bike weighs 2lbs less and my ride was a lot smoother. The carbon fork should be a standard spec on the 4130 bike.

Perfect Upgrade for the 4130 All Road

What a difference this fork makes! Dropped around 2lbs from my overall weight from my All Road. State should make this a spec option for these!!

Great for the Surly Midnight Special

For those looking to upgrade the fork on their Surly Midnight Special you'll be happy to know you do NOT need to get the EC44/40 lower and instead just get a new Cane Creek 40 Series crown-race for a 1.5" tapered fork. It turns out steel fork on the MS has a 1.5" to 1 1/8" reducer crown-race.

The SBC Monster Fork weighed in at 520g uncut WITH all six allen-bolts installed. This upgrade shaved over 700g from my ride. Only con is that the axle threads are coarse.

Looks good from a distance.

Great fork for the price. That said you get what you pay for, if you want an ENVY quality fork this may not be it. Paint isn’t perfect around mounting points, and the axle does stick out a bit. Not an issue for me but something to consider. I’m happy with it. Delivery was super fast, even internationally. Overall good because it’s not 700 bucks like everything else out there.

Killer Fork, Easy Installation

I put the monster gravel fork on my 4130 with 650b wheels. The installation was easy and the ride improvement and weight savings were noticeable.👍

The State Bicycle Co. Carbon Monster Fork v2 is crafted from the highest-grade carbon fiber, engineered to take on the toughest terrains while keeping your ride light and agile. Designed with adventure in mind, this fork features multiple mounting points and accommodates up to 2.4" tires at 27.5" (650b), giving you the versatility to tackle any gravel or off-road challenge.

Adjustable Offset: Tailor Your Ride

The Carbon Monster Fork v2 features an innovative adjustable offset, allowing you to switch between a 49mm and 55.5mm rake using flip-chip technology. This adjustment offers significant benefits depending on your riding style and terrain:

  • 49mm Offset: Ideal for riders who prioritize stability and control on technical trails or rough gravel. The shorter rake reduces the wheelbase slightly, making your bike more agile and responsive to quick steering inputs. This setting is perfect for tight, twisty singletrack or when you need maximum precision on technical descents.

  • 55.5mm Offset: This longer rake setting is designed for those who prefer a smoother, more stable ride, particularly on fast gravel roads or during long-distance bikepacking trips. The increased offset lengthens the wheelbase, providing enhanced straight-line stability, which helps to reduce fatigue during extended rides and offers a more forgiving ride on less technical, open terrain.

Use Cases:

  • 49mm Offset: Choose this setting for aggressive trail riding, navigating switchbacks, or when you need sharp, responsive handling in tight spaces.

  • 55.5mm Offset: Opt for the longer offset when your route involves long stretches of gravel, fire roads, or bikepacking adventures where stability and comfort are key.

Features:

  • MATERIAL: High-grade Carbon Fiber
  • STEERER TUBE: Full Carbon Steerer, 1 1/8" - 1 1/2" tapered
  • DROPOUT: Carbon Fiber, compatible with 12x100mm thru-axle (M12 Thread Pitch)
  • BRAKES: Flat Mount Disc-Brake Interface
  • THRU-AXLE: Included

Compatibility Notes:

  • Max recommended tire size:
    • 49mm Setting: 55mmx700c or 2.3" x 650b
    • 55.5mm Setting: 58mm x 700c or 2.45" x 650b
  • Current 4130 All-Road owners may require the additional FSA Compression Plug and EC44/40 headset lower.

Specs:

  • WEIGHT: 510g (uncut)
  • OFFSET: Adjustable between 49mm and 55.5mm with flip-chip technology
  • A to C LENGTH: 396mm (49mm setting) / 404mm (55.5mm setting)
  • Maximum Load: 25kg
