Squirrels don’t stand a chance

Very smooth and comfy bike. Rode it a hundred miles the first week i had it and can’t get it enough! Stock mechanical disc brakes work great, and the gears are smooth!
Also can run over a squirrel no problem doesn’t skip a beat. YES THE SQUIRREL LIVED BUT IT RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME. 650b is the way!

This bike is amazing!

I bought the Raw Phosphate 4130 version + the wheel upgrade so I can ride on or off road simply by swapping out the wheelset which is super convenient. The ride itself is very smooth as one would expect from a steel frame bike. What I love most about this bike is the versatility. I currently have it setup as a bikepacking build with the state desert cargo cages and a rear pannier rack. When not bikepacking, I can easily remove the racks, do a quick tire swap and hit the dirt trails. If you are thinking about picking up a 4130 I would say don’t hesitate, State Bicycle is a one stop shop for everything you need to get out on the road. I placed my order, had that bike delivered to my front door in a week, professionally assembled at local bike shop next day and ready to ride the following day. They literally ship everything to you ready to go, even the wheelsets had the tubes already in them (just have to add air). I can’t wait to grow with this bike and put more miles on it. Great job State!

Fun bike, great price

Had the bike for a couple of weeks now, overall a solid bike. Included pedals and seats were nicer than expected. Bike was well packed and had no damage from shipment. Assembly took a few minutes and documentation is pretty good, but there were a couple of things I had to look up. The second set of wheels with gear set, brakes and tires is the strong selling point. Would recommend overall.

Solid Bike, Amazing Finish!!

My 4130, with the Raw Phosphate finish has been a solid bike. I needed a steel framed "adventure" bike for road training and bike packing and this bike fits the bill perfectly at a great price. The frame seems really well made and very solid and the Raw Phosphate finish is absolutely beautiful! Probably my favorite finish on any bike I've ever owned (and that's a lot!) I was able to catch a decent discount on it around the holidays but even at full price I think it is a solid deal. I planned on replacing/upgrading the lower end components as they fail or need replacing but so far the drivetrain has been flawless after some basic adjustments and I feel very confident they should last a good while. Thanks State for filling a niche that was sorely needed in the bike industry. Solid bikes at a decent price and great customer service! This is my 4th State bike. 4130 All-Road, a city bike and two Klunkers! : )

Great bike

I bought this 4130 and the shipping was quick. It was easy to assemble (with help from my son, Scott who recently bought this same bike). Phosphate is a great color. Took my first ride today and bike shifted fine. Was a solid ride for a good price.

Bikepacks, climbs and she's fast: tests passed!

The raw look from the phosphate finish was the first reason I chose this one. I wanted an all-steel bike with multiple attachment points for bikepacking and she passed the first test. Did a short weekend trip, combined asphalt and dirt, carrying around 10kg of gear, water included (and a six pack with ice for the final dirt road part!) She felt much like a road bike on asphalt, and it handled well on dirt. Since this is the Chihuahuan desert, had to carefully ride through some sandy patches; not bad for the 700c x38 though. Second test was the Woodrow Bean Transmountain Road, it has some interesting climbs, popular among local cyclists (or maybe unpopular?) Gear rate felt appropriate for the 8% average climbs on this road. This was also her first 100km ride and it was rather comfortable now with a shorter 50mm stem. It is the only modification I made. She also felt steady on the 60km/h descent, no pedaling. I’m looking forward for more bikepacking and multiday trips on this one. She earned my respect.

4130 Raw

I bought this because I wanted to a steel bike as a back up, you would think it is not meant to go fast and I think I am making it go zoom zoom. I recommend it if you want to put a bit of work and it flat out looks the part. cheers

Great first bike

I received my 4130 about 3 weeks ago. so far i really enjoy the ride. I mainly use it for commute and small gravel rides. I just took it on my first city ride with 500+ people, got lots of compliments on the raw frame and overall feel of the bike. I only have one small complaint, when the bike was delivered the derailleur was bent pretty badly. The person who assembled it for me had a derailleur alignment tool but advised me to reach out for a replacement. other than that it’s a great bike! Can’t wait to take it on so bigger rides!

First gravel bike

Been into mountain biking for a few years now. Started looking at gravel bikes for bikepacking. This bike checked all the boxes for me. So far I'm not disappointed. Only 50 miles on it so far, but many more to come.

Raw Steel Care Advisory: Our raw steel bike frame, finished with a matte clear coat, showcases the beauty of steel in its purest form. Over time, this raw finish will naturally develop rust / patina. While our phosphate treatment and clear coat slow down rusting, maintaining your bike is essential to preserve its look. Please be informed that the warranty doesn't cover rust, and thorough maintenance is recommended for longevity. For complete care details and recommendations, click here.
