Initial Impressions

Size 52 frameset with Ultegra r8000 groupset, Alloy handlebar, and carbon seatpost. With 1750g wheels, the bike weighs 8.7kg as pictured. This is my first aluminum bike; purchased for winter training in Seattle. Compared to my other carbon/dura ace bikes, the ride is definitely more harsh. However, the frame is super stiff and has a very lively geometry. It feels very planted and secure when sprinting or climbing out of the saddle. And the extra weight really doesn't feel that bad on training days (though you probably would notice on race days). Switched to a slimmer 27.2 carbon seatpost using a Cane Creek shim, and this increased the comfort a lot more than I would have guessed. Have only been running 25c tires, though it looks like there's plenty of room for 28's. Have only been riding the bike less than a month now and no rides longer than 2.5 hours, but so far really enjoying it. Would have given 5 stars, but I have to say the paint job is pretty subpar. From any distance greater than a foot it looks just fine, but on close inspection it definitely looks cheap. Had to return the first two forks they sent me because they had literal dimples in the clearcoat. The very low $545 price definitely factored into my overall favorable rating.

The new Undefeated line-up has been re-engineered with Y9 aluminum, based on 6061 aluminum but with added titanium, giving it improved hardness and tensile strength over its predecessor. This new-alloy composition allows for the thinnest possible wall thickness to be used, thereby reducing overall weight.
