My Honest Review of the Carbon All-Road

My first ride on my new Carbon All-Road was rather disappointing. About 20 miles into the ride the chain broke. On inspection, it was the master link that failed. Not at the connection, but the pin broke from the side plate. I had a chain link tool so I was able to squeeze it back together. The repaired link was stiff but functional. By keeping the chain on one of the largest cogs, I was able, but slowly, to get back to the car. I have since replaced the failed link with a known brand master link. Until the brake pads are broke in I won’t be doing any steep recents, because as of now the braking efficiency is underwhelming.
Today I went on my second ride and I must say I really like this bike. I’m a retired bike mechanic so I have a pretty good knowledge of bikes. I’ve been an aggressive rider for over 50 years and I can still hold my own hanging with the young bucks. This bike is fast. Today I set 5 personal bests on a route that I had previously exhausted my bests. I feel very confident leaning the bike over through corners at speed. My ascents are faster without having to stand up and overall the bike is very responsive. In the hands of a young buck this bike would fly.
While my first ride may have been disappointing I can now say that this bike is a great deal. Even if I have to replace some components down the line I have no regrets and would gladly buy it again.
So, there is my honest review. Take it or leave it.

Awesome bike!

New to gravel biking, and have loved this bike so far!

awesome in multiple ways

Not only is this the best deal on a carbon gravel bike, but the customer service is fantastic. From answering questions about sizing to shipping problems. My bike arrived with a bent derailler hanger, and immediately State sent a new one. Only with a straight hanger did I find the derailler was bent too, again a new one was in the mail immediately.
The bike itself is as advertised, and rides awesome. I was a bit worried about the M coming with 170 cranks, but it doesnt seem to be a problem. I am new to the cable actuated brakes, but they seem great so far.
all in all, great experience.

STATE has done it again!

After two rides on this frame, I'm absolutely thrilled with it. Swapping out my steel frame for the carbon one was primarily due to size, but the weight reduction has been a welcome bonus. The larger frame size has made a noticeable difference in my comfort and performance. Riding it feels like flying—super smooth with minimal vibration. Overall, I'm delighted with the switch and excited to keep exploring with this bike.

It’s more than expected. It’s a beautiful bike and very light weight! I lost 4 of the bolts that are on my fork on the first ride. I assumed they were tight.

Beautiful Bike!

Just received my beautiful Carbon All-Road Black/ Ember 700c.

Carefully unpacking it I never found the bike assembly manual or the warranty information. I went through the packing material twice.

When I bought my 6061 Black Label-All Road-Dark Woodland, it came with a manual and warranty information.

Carbon All Road - Unreal

Got a few good rides in with this bike now and I absolutely love it. Have swapped between skinny tires and some chunky boys with 650b. Bike feels amazing with both setups and is super responsive when standing up and putting power down. Bike shifts great, brakes great, and is just an all around unit. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic gravel bicycle

Decided on a gravel after wishing my 30 year road bike and 5 year commute bike could better handle the DC canal ride, and this one fits the bill. Very smooth, easy to handle, solid choice. I opted for both wheel sets and could not be happier, able to change them in and out myself without too much effort, and glad to have the flexibility. Tires are also both high quality, which I appreciated. Team replaced folded shifter hoods in a jiffy. I could not be more happy with the responsiveness of the State Bike team, they quickly answered all my questions. I give a high recommendation!

Found QR code inside headtube. Nearly impossible to read. Looks like some type of coating or epoxy was
sprayed over QR decal. Appears to be 269STATE238 or FM-0002.
RR der hanger was bent out of box. Possibly damaged in transit. RR der may have damage as well.
Poor shifting even after correcting bent der hanger and setting limit screws. Set cable tension for proper
shifting in low gears and der hangs on high gears...vice versa when proper tension applied in high gears.
Recommend cust file claim with manufacturer for replacement derailleur and hanger. Der looks proprietary.
