This bike wants to be ridden

It’s been along time since I’ve rode an aluminum bike. For the past few years, I’ve been riding mountain bikes and steel fixies. They are great bikes, but this one is much lighter and faster compared to the others. Even with one gear, it’s still flies up most hills. On flats, it begs to be ridden fast. I’m really enjoying it so far.

this bike turned my frown upside down

My summer riding was about as exciting as a piece of soggy toast. There was no time to race. My hours on the trainer were as depressing as a pinata full of broccoli. My cycling speed was about as good as a platypus on a penny farthing. And then I found this bike and it turned my cycling frown totally upside down.

The 6061 Black Label V3. has completely refreshed my summer riding routine! This little bike makes me so happy, and it's simply fun to ride.

The aluminum frame in my favorite color, purple, is surprisingly lightweight, and the carbon fork makes it feel far more luxurious than the price tag implies. This bike rides so smoothly! Equipped with 30mm tires, the bike feels stable cornering and descending, and the steering is plenty responsive.

The bike comes standard with a 48-17 gear ratio, which works for me for climbs up to around 10%, so it’s perfect to ride around the rolling farmland where I live.

At only 5’ tall, I’m just under the recommended height for the 49cm bike, but all I needed to do was swap out the stem for a slightly shorter one and upgrade to the SRAM165 cranks to make the bike fit me perfectly. It’s easy to get out of the saddle for a little extra oomph when I need it, and it’s just as easy to use the tops or the drops, too. Even at the end of a 50-mile ride, the bike is as comfortable and fun to ride as my high-end road bike!

Overall, you’re getting a great quality bike at an even greater price point, and I love showing mine off to my friends. It’s a great choice if you’re looking to get into riding fixed, already love riding fixed, or just want a single-speed (with optional free-wheel) to tool around town or cruise at the beach. If your cycling needs a quicker-picker upper then totally give this beauty a look.

Great bike, except the paint comes off the wheels and chips off the frame a little too easily.

Ooh, that purple!

The Black Label V3 is the best in its class, hands down! And the colorway on this bike is SICK!
