Single Speed Tank

At first I was concerned that I bit off more than I could chew, but it is so fun to ride!! It will help with my cadence and endurance especially since I keep wanting to downshift. I have not been challenged with big hills yet but I will test them out!! As someone told me it has three speeds sit, stand and walk I have yet to hit the third speed!!! Should have gotten a SS a long time ago!!

State Bicycle 4130 Review - Matte Olive - Fixed/SS

This is the second 4130 bike I've purchased from State Bicycle. The first (Jamicia) remains in perfect shape after thousands of miles without a single problem. Jamicia has been all over the US with only a few minor dings and scratches to show for its travels. It has been a super solid bike and a blast to ride.
Jamicia has no flaws which would beg the question, why replace it? The answer is the upgraded fork and rear triangle of the new 4130 line. Doing a good amount of riding before sunrise and often on less than smooth roads, I wanted the comfort and confidence of a 38mm tire and even more importantly, I wanted a tubeless wheel setup. After several weeks of riding my new 4130, I could not be happier. It's light, quick, agile and looks amazing. Ride quality with the wider tires is spot on. My average speeds remain unchanged from when I was riding 28mm tires. The only changes from stock were a new set of tubeless tires ( stock tires are not tubeless compatible but the stock rims are...sort of weird but I'm sure State has their reasons) and the original bar switched out for a carbon flatbar.
I'm predominantly an XC mountain bike racer and offroad junkie but when the trails are closed, or I just want to get on the road for a change, the 4130 State Bicycle is my go-to. I love the simplicity and fun of a good solid single speed. Also, being in the cycling world for almost three decades, I find State Bicycles to be one on the best bangs for the buck.

Solid ride on a great bike

I purchased the 4130 to use while living in the city over the next 1+ years. I have a large truck that isn't the easiest to navigate and park in an urban setting. So, I decided to purchase a bike for daily errands and exercise. Enter the 4130. This bike is fantastic! Much lighter than other bikes I have owned and the single speed is much appreciated and utilitarian for an urban setting. Highly recommend.

Great bike

The State 4130 is honestly a great bike for the price. The frame and forks are excellent. The compact flared bars are perfect. The fat rubber make a huge difference on this new model. I love the look of the new cranks. The retro stock saddle feels good. The wheels spin true and I love the sealed hubs. The brakes work well with decent modulation. I really love the flat olive green color.

Great Budget Bike

Bought this to ride in gravel and checks all my boxes, tire clearance is no joke, I went with the flat bars and they are great for now. No complains so far but I see myself keeping this frame for a very long time.

Solid bike, fast and smooth. I recently got hit by a car on this bike and State sold me a replacement at wholesale price. Great company and amazing quality for the price.

EXCALIBURRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

I FEEL THE FIRE. This thing shredzzz. State knows how to build a bike! Ripping up pavement to trails with fun and ease. The Rouge Park MTB trail quickly became addictive. Also shredz any urban obstacle I’ve sent or jumped over on my commute to work.

cool fun bike

Great bike for having fun and getting around town. I use it for both and I have put around 45 miles on it so far. I would love to get another bike from state and I would 100% recommend.

SO FUN!

Such a great bike! It’s so fun to be back on a fixed gear again…and even more so on dirt.
I’ve swapped some of the parts, and turned it into a “tracklocross” bike, but the frame is still killer. Great budget bike.

Great value and stylish design

The overall quality and stylish minimalism of this bike is what attracted us to buy it and it’s as good in person as anticipated. Lightweight, great geometry for hybrid use and love the look. The fixed speed gear choice seems perfect for commuting. The only disappointing feature is the tires. They seem incredibly cheap and we have never felt this compound in a tire before. Kind of a sticky soft rubber. Expect they will have a short lifespan and we did get a flat on day two of use from a very small goathead.
