When you want a bike that is as simple as it is dependable without breaking the bank, steel is real. For those worried more about grins than grams, it is a completely worthy compromise. State Bicycle Company has a couple of new options now available on their web-store in the Pulsar 29er which is as pleasing to your eyes as it is your wallet. It comes in two well built single speed flavors that might just fit the bill
State Bicycle Company is known for its fixed-gear and singlespeed bikes. Now, the Tempe, Ariz., company is entering the mountain bike space with two crosscountry builds.
There’s no reason you should have to spend a couple grand on your first mountain bike. Perhaps that was the motivation behind State Bicycle Co’s latest model, the Pulsar SS 29r MTB. With graphics designed by Dustin Klein, a SRAM and WTB build kit, with optional Rockshox Recon fork upgrade, these affordable bikes look great and pack everything you need to get rolling on your local trails.
You ride bicycles. You buy beer. As such, it only makes sense to own a bike that’s optimized for carrying beer. And while the prospect of a beer-transporting bicycle might sound too goofy, someone actually went ahead and made one in the form of the Four Peaks Deluxe.
I just caught this from Facebook. With singlespeed options getting rather scarce these days, State brings to market the Pulsar, a cro-mo steel 29er singlespeed in two flavors; full rigid and front suspension. Simple and very inexpensive. Not much of that around these days. I am not a great fan of the set screw type BB adjustment, but it gets the job done.
Dustin Klein (DKLEIN) is known for inking his Pulsar designs on skin… and now his art has found a home on the new Pulsar SS 29er Mountain Bike from State Bicycle Co.

We write about a number of partnerships, whether it is a design firm partnering with a clothing company or a car company partnering with an entertainment event. However, one you don’t often see is a partnership between a brewery and a bike company. That is precisely what Four Peaks and State Bicycle Company have done with their recent Tempe-centric bicycle collaboration.
This definitely has me missing Seoul. The last time I went, it was only for a short weekend-long skate trip. After watching Hacheon Park rip around the city I’m realizing another trip is in order, this time I’ll just have to bring my bike with me.

State Bicycle Company in Tempe, Arizona, is known for its appealing yet affordable designs, attention to detail, and hard-riding employees. Those employees' passion is evident in this striking model, which State collaborated with Four Peaks Brewery to develop. The sturdy steel single-speed has a cool retro look (the mustache bars are a nice touch) that would look as appropriate on a tweed ride as a pub crawl.

Since then this bike has seen it all, every fixed gear race, every ride, every grocery trip, and its going strong. For me its the perfect bike. I like the oversized tubing, it really stands out in the peloton. The geometry works out well for me in all the tight cornering we tend to see in a lot of the races.
Hot on the heels of the announcement that my beloved local brewery was acquired by Annheuser Busch, and fears that they will start to suck grow, we hear about this awesome collaboration between State Bicycles and Four Peaks Brewery. Turns out this isn’t a new collaboration, so the new overlords may yet ruin the brand, but for now, let’s revel in this very cool bike dedicated to getting you and your sixer or growler home from the pub.
